COWAND JOINS WEITZMAN AS HOUSTON SENIOR VICE PRESIDENT HOUSTON—Lyle Cowand, a commercial real estate professional with more than two decades of experience, has joined the Houston office of The Weitzman Group as a senior vice president. In this position, Cowand is responsible for retail tenant representation and retail project representation in the Greater Houston area for Weitzman. He also will handle leasing for new development projects. Prior to joining The Weitzman Group, Cowand was a senior vice president with the Houston office of Transwestern, where he was responsible for sourcing new retail development opportunities for the company and other developer clients, as well as handling retail tenant representation. Cowand has worked with noteworthy clients including Friendswood Development Company, General Electric, American General Insurance, Orix Real Estate Equities, Cedarwood Development, Walgreens and J.P. Morgan Chase. Cowand has been involved in a significant number of transactions totaling in the millions of square feet. Cowand is a member of the International Council of Shopping Centers. He received a Bachelor of Business Administration degree in marketing from the University of Houston.
